Evaluate the Kia Cerato Si
Upgrading between Kia’s life cycle adds value and safety equipment to its handy small car.
Kia’s refreshed Cerato may have missed a new generation chassis, laying the foundation for the big brother’s Elantra equivalent but it takes a valuable path to get traction with buyers.
High-tech driver support technology is currently running farther than the Cerato food chain into a basic Si model. In the past, Kia has limited advanced driver assistance devices into top models.
This latest development adds a huge safety boost at a more affordable price.
Kia dropped the 1.8-liter engine from the product line, opting for a 2.0-liter model for all Cerato variants. The Si driver sedan may not be the No. 1 seller within Cerato range but it rises sharply in the small car category.
Small cars have a certain “mature” appeal to well-defined boot hatches (plus security covers) and passenger compartments.
Cerato looked and felt bigger than it.
That is the case with Cerato Si, which is rated as one of the better options in the category.
The upgrade of the Cerato lifecycle offers a sophisticated exterior with new and rear front lights and bumpers, a new grille and more chrome details.
However, for some reason, Kia has used 16-inch alloys instead of 17 seconds, which is the old school.
Cerato looked and felt bigger than it. In modified interior, there is spacious seating space for four (five at a pinch), with good headroom and adequate rear legroom. Big boots.
Kia adds rear air-conditioning vents, the occupants will appreciate and the rear seats fold up can be long or odd.
Control modifications on dash are stylish and easy to use. The same thing happens with touch screens and fast Bluetooth connectivity.
Adding more premium feeling to the cabin is a variety of soft feeling surfaces and modern and attractive dash design. But overall, style is based on conservatism.
Back to town
Some features make it a handy tool around town. Start-up with a beginner’s remote control, handy rotation and reversing camera and rear traffic alert enter themselves in safety and parking.
Access to all seats is as easy as operating the dash controls and has extensive storage.
In the cold morning, the hot seat is very cool and it is also handy to start with the button, even if not absolutely necessary. Satnav is quick and up-to-date while the sound brings a pleasant sound – the multimedia package is true to the brand.
In Eco mode, the Cerato sedan feels slightly muffled so we drive mainly in Normal or Sport mode. It does not seem to make a big difference to fuel consumption, which may be a bit heavy around town for a car of this size.
It has neat and stable handling, but you will need to operate the engine to make it work fast.
The ride is comfortable and at least giggles or bumps into the cabin on rough roads.
On the road
On a long journey, Si can be controlled with a bit of passion and will bring more engagement than most competitions (bland).
It has neat and stable handling, but you will need to operate the engine to make it work fast. That’s probably not a car like the Cerato sedan, but Kia insists on its local handling (Euro feel).
All motivations are definitely the best direction of the competition. Good brakes, good weight steering, tough car control, sturdy chassis – all elements are available, but for sporty feel.
Kia’s amazing six-speed auto helps to shift the number up and down smoothly and accurately.
A good thing did better with the inclusion of many features to support the driver and sharp looks. The engine can do with a bit more zip and a less sip. It has a best warranty, cheap operating costs and strong prices. Meet the new cheap family car model.
What it has
So many, so much. Choose driving mode, blind spot detection, lane change support, rear traffic warning, reverse camera, leather, auto headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, seven-inch touch screen, vents back, boot by button, satnav …
What it did not
Need a gear shift and superior driving support such as automatic emergency braking and lane change assistance only on higher-end Cerato SLi.
Australia’s best warranty for seven years / km unlimited, seven-year roadside assistance, seven-year price limiting service.
