Honda CR-V VTi-S 2017
Think about Honda CR-V like Britney Spears. Originally lovely, it just started to run out in the common stakes once younger competitors began to operate. Fortunately, unlike Britney, Honda has not disappeared from sight.
The old CR-V, fourth generation, is very solid if not noticeable, with Honda’s important characteristics of smart, spacious interior and other Honda characteristics, deafening from the 2010’s engine. dull and combined transmission.
Now in its 20th year, the new CR-V is present to revive its fortunes in a more complex and busy market than its great-grandfather can admire (if cars can admire ). And with a new turbo engine singing a new melody, it might even be a bit more interesting. This is hope.
Is there anything interesting about its design? October 7
The fourth generation is one of almost but not complete styling efforts. The front is a wild forest with corners and chrome and much more contours than a tragedy of Shakespeare, all crammed into a busy nose with giant animated floodlights. It becomes quieter and gets more consideration when you get off the bus, but one person doesn’t look.
Sadly, although it is predictable for Honda, it is still not, but now in the fifth iteration, it is at least more cohesive. The front is much cleaner and everything is more symmetrical, although there are a few moments where the eraser will be a better part of valor for designers.
However, you cannot deny it has a presence and is a less insane scientist than it is. Familiar records in “not shorter?” The way, while the arrowhead shape characteristic of the rear quarter window has been filled in slightly to accommodate more glass.
And it’s longer, but only with an 11mm is relatively difficult. It looks lower, but the actual height is up to 6 mm in this front-drive version. It’s also wider (35mm) but the real reason it looks longer is to add 40mm wheelbase, extending the body. Strangely, the ground clearance also increased by 28mm.
Inside CR-V is really quite lovely. There was a palpable lift in both presentation and documentation. Like VW’s amazing Tiguan, the cloth seats are more suitable for leather and comfortable examples when starting. Everything you touch feels soft and inviting and looks good.
I will be careful to look forward to the great word but in a market with quality services from Mazda and VW, you have to bring your A game and, in my opinion, Honda has done it.
How realistic is the space inside? 9/10
The sleek exterior carries a ton of interior space. Starting from the rear, there is a 522-liter CX-5 (the CX-5 is just a small improvement over its predecessor at 438 liters) but relatively less with the seat down, at 1084 liters. One of the sides of the boot is two concave trays that fit snugly into my DSLR camera box and prevent it from sliding around the boot.
Like the HR-V and Civic, the interior of the CR-V is full of intelligence. At first glance it looks like a rather complex arrangement between the front seats turns out to be quite useful. Beneath the sliding armrest is a deep barrel with another sliding element, an L-shaped tray that prevents everything from falling back into the bin when in the most forward-facing position. Below that are two front USB ports (with two additional rear ports) and Honda’s strange insistence on attaching to the HDMI-in port continue.
There are also two front cupholder and two more at the rear central armrest for a total of four, matching the number of bottle holders at the entrance. The door pockets are also generous, equipped around the bottle owners.
For passenger space, it is a belter; The rear seat got a space. CarsGuide’s famous man, Richard Berry (191cm), comfortably sat behind his driving position, so behind my frame four inches shorter, he would laugh. .
Front-seat passengers are treated with a comfortable pair of seats with a handy scooter on the center console. It is a great interior and is especially spacious in this five-seat version.
Does it represent good value for price? What features does it come with? October 7
CR-V has a lot of flavors, in fact, with attractive new seven-seat options. The range opens with a front-wheel drive VTi at $ 30,690, and continues through VTi-S to VTi-S AWD for $ 35,490. The VTi-L is the first to emerge in the third row (big news for the new CR-V and for the segment). The VTi-L lost AWD, before it reappeared on the VTi-LX seven seats at $ 44,290.
What are the important statistics for engine and transmission? October 7
Somehow, someone at Honda thought that the 1.5-liter turbo engine from the Civic was a CR-V engine, and they were right. Developing 140kW and 240Nm healthy, it’s great to have a 1540kg SUV when traveling without worry. Power comes through the front wheels and my favorite CVT gearbox, CVT.
How much fuel does it consume? October 8
Honda claims the combined cycle figure is 7.3L / 100km and I got 8.2L / 100km in an easy 50/50 mixture of suburbs and highways, this is pretty good when the CR-V is not yet start stop.
What does it like to drive? October 8
The new CR-V is a much better machine than the one it replaced. Gone, the 2.4-liter noisy sounded like it wanted anywhere beyond the bonnet of anything. The new engine is only a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharger, but it’s much more ready (with greater power and torque) and no audio module.
The old five-speed car overcame the peak period and took down the opponent, causing misery. The CVT replaces it at home in the CR-V more than the Civic, but you have to watch to burn. It will take a while to realize you are asking for a bit, but once you have it during the migration process, it would be logical if not a special feedback box. Lift it up, it whistles like a jet engine rolls down – it’s background noise, but it’s annoying until you find out what it is.
What has lit my fire for CR-V is ride, handling and steering. Although still no match for the CX-5, but it was closer than before and was chosen between it and other cars on the driveway, the CR-V won easily, all day. everyday. It’s comfortable for everyone, super quiet in the journey (I mean, really quiet – even the cunning surface is also a farther distance is near to roar). It’s like a person who really likes to ride a car rather than just using them as a transport service thinking: “We should do this pleasant.” And they did.
The old car was slightly clumped, stabbed and impacted through bumps and the steering wheel felt tight or loose, but mostly, you didn’t know anything about what’s going on under the front wheels. Again, this issue has been arranged in a fairly minimalist way, but with higher grip and more feel to a car you can be more confident.
The CR-V will never be fast enough for me, but it’s more than the competition, which (most) isn’t fast enough for me. The suspension may also be quieter, but the noise is a distant cry and a few light slaps are not the old car’s racket.
What safety equipment is equipped? What is safety assessment? October 7
CR-V comes from Thailand with six airbags, ABS, stability and traction control, trailer swing control, emergency brake screen, reversing camera and speed warning.
On top of that is the smart LaneWatch camera, which hangs the rearview mirror on the left, down the side of the car, so you can know someone who drove in while you’re about to turn. Activated by the left land indicator, it is very useful.
ANCAP has not yet been rated safe, but cannot lose the five-star rating of the previous generation. On a side note, Honda says the CR-V is not equipped with Takata airbags.
Another note – only the top specs have the kind of device that its main rival, the CX-5 has. These include AEB front and rear and reverse traffic alerts. Even the bottom of the CX-5 Maxx range also has AEB headlights and front LEDs.
What is the cost to own? What warranty is provided? October 8
Honda offers a very generous five-year warranty / unlimited km. The service is limited to the first 10 services / year at $ 295, regardless of service. Unlike some of its rivals, Honda wants to meet you every 12 months or 10,000km.
