Lamborghini is going after Ferrari’s FXX division with an ultra-limited, track-only model to be revealed by its Squadra Corse racing arm.
The new video has shown the next model from SC18, which is currently undergoing high-speed tracking testing. Unconfirmed reports suggest the new, Aventador-based model will be called the ‘SVR’.
The car is powered by Aventador’s 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, with an increased capacity of 819bhp.
Information of the car was not revealed much in the video. However, clear images of the bodywork have shown it to be more reliable than the SC18.
The video shows a wedge shape with a deep front and pronounced splitters. There is also a spoon on the roof and a visible rear wing design. An aggressive diffuser setup can be briefly glimpsed.
Homologation rules dictate that the race version must be strongly related to a road-legal model, with 20 examples required to be produced over a two-year period. That suggests the Le Mans racer isn’t likely to be based on this car, because it won’t be road legal.
