New upgrade package includes power and torque boosts for recently discontinued hot hatch.
Compared to the old package, the latest revision raises the output of the Mk7 hot hatch to 380bhp, 74bhp more; compared to standard cars it is 153bhp more.
The new Phase 2+ toolkit is built on the previous Phase 1 upgrade. It costs 2,062.50 excluding VAT, manufactured by Mountune’s Volkswagen Group division, Mountune52.
Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades are common in the tuning world. Stage 2 tweaks are often followed by a hardcore Stage 3 package.
Torque capacity is increased to 376lb ft. This allows it to sprint from 0-60mph in 5.2sec, slashing 0.2sec from the Stage 1 car and 0.5sec from the standard model.
Equipped with the GTI’s normally-exploded 2.0-liter engine is the IS38 turbocharger – standard on the Golf R.
Some of the new features on the car, such as bespoke calibration, allow drivers to adjust performance via an mTune handheld. It also has the ability to completely disable their vehicle through new anti-theft settings
Mountune52 also offers a TCU DSG calibration upgrade for drivers whose cars have Volkswagen’s dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Small Ford vehicles are also getting a major upgrade today, thanks to Mountune’s recently developed Ford Fiesta ST m235. It helped increase the output of that hot hatch to 232bhp.
