The Volkswagen Ameo is one of the most underrated cars on sale currently. It is a sub-4-metre sedan. Here are some pros and cons about Volkswagen Ameo for your reference.
1. Driver centric
Space for the driver is very good. The seat is adjustable for reach and recline, as well as height. Of course, the steering wheel is also adapted to the driver.
The driver has good visibility too. The A-pillar isn’t too thick, the dash isn’t very high, and the glass section in the C pillar just makes it easier to spot trouble when changing lanes or joining on to the main road.
2. Build quality
This is an extremely solid vehicle. The way the dials and the buttons operate, and even the look and the feel of plastic – the steering in particular – leaves you with the feeling of a car that’s built to last. It is fixed, durable but the interior is not luxurious.
The Ameo has one of the most powerful Diesel engines in its class. No wonder it accelerates to 100kmph in just a little over 10 seconds.
The car uses a 1.5 liter diesel engine. It makes almost 110bhp and 250Nm of torque. Only when it drops to 1,000 rpm or less does Ameo pull like a train. What’s more, it still managed to return over 14kmpl in our city test.
4. Driving dynamics
Volkswagen has always got the dynamics of its car right. The Ameo, even with its shortened boot, is no different.
It’s also planted in a straight line, which is good because it gets to three-digit speeds in such a hurry, that most of the time you don’t even realise you are there. Brakes again, have good bite and feel.
5. Multimedia system
Ameo is provided with a prominent multimedia system. The touch interface is quick to respond and easy to use. Of course, there’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well. The system also gives good sound quality.
Despite its acceptable wheelbase, the Ameo space is really narrow and not as high as the rivals. So, not only does it have a comparatively smaller boot, but it also loses out on useable legroom and headroom compared to its competition.
2. After-sales perception
Whether you are a Volkswagen owner or not, the general perception is that the after-sales service for the brand is no good.
Above are brief comments on the pros and cons of Ameo.
