Review BMW X5
Favored by everyone from governments requiring bulletproof security facilities for parents to drop out, the BMW X5 is the limo of the German manufacturer’s current spacious SUV and the xDrive40d is located. close to the top of the squad.
As if that wasn’t enough pressure, the X5 fought off fierce rivals in the form of Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport.
You would expect a luxurious X5, equipped with advanced and dynamic technology, because it’s a BMW, and that’s the brand’s ingenuity. But it’s an SUV, so it should be practical.
That’s a lot to ask, but after living with the X5 xDrive40d for two weeks, it gave me the answer.
Does it represent good value for the price? What features does it come with? 7/10
There are 12 different X5 types in the range, excluding the special editions and showing where xDrive40d is in the diagram of it all will look like showing you the image of the Milky Way, with an arrow indicating the location Earth.
It is not very helpful, and you are more confused than ever. So all you need to know is that the xDrive40d is the most powerful X5 diesel before you step up to the next level, into BMW’s M-performance high-performance X5s.
The list price of $ 124,990 also makes it one of the most expensive X5s. For the same price, you can buy a petrol-electric hybrid duo, xDrive40e. I have tested it and you can read all about why I have an environmental problem here or now you can stick with me and I will explain why I think that version Diesel engines are a better option.
First, the standard features. For all this money, you would expect the entire costume box to feature and you won’t be disappointed. Has a 10.25-inch touch screen with surround view camera, ‘Professional’ sat nav, 16 speakers, 600W, Harman / kardon stereo, leather upholstery everywhere (including dashboard), front seats Power-adjustable sports, head display, panoramic sunroof, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, proximity lock, electric tailgate, front and rear parking sensors and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Our test vehicle was equipped with a $ 1700 ‘M Sport Package’, which adds an additional 20 inch two-spoke alloy (seen in the image), adaptive dampers, M aerodynamic bodykit, M Sport leather steering wheel and aluminum interior.
The heated front seat option box has also been ticked ($ 700) and the free ‘Renewal package’ option has been selected, offering adaptive cruise control, a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster and Soft closing function for doors.
‘White Mountains’ is the only free paint color. Our X5 in ‘Carbon Black Metal’ paint will cost you $ 2,000, so ‘Black Sapphire’, ‘Atlas Cedar’, ‘Space Gray’, ‘Glacier Silver’, ‘Imperial Blue’, ‘ Sparkling Brown ‘(I know, gross) and’ White Minerals’.
Rival of X5? If you want to run a comparative model, there’s the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d for $ 125,500, the Porsche Cayenne Diesel for $ 110,100 or a Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE for $ 134,700.
Is there anything interesting about its design? 8/10
The X5 looks big but elegant. With the long nose of the BMW family, the cabin is located behind and from the back looks as wide and tall as the Hulk.
But the size shows it is not as big as it may appear. The terminal of the X5 is 4886mm long, 1938mm wide and 1762mm high. The Benz GLE is only 67mm shorter in length, the width is quite similar and the height is shorter than 34mm.
If you’re looking for something bigger but still have a BMW badge, you’ll be happy to know the first X7 will land in the next 12 months and it’s a monster longer than 5.2m.
The current X5 is the third generation of the model line that started in 1999. Some things haven’t changed – the configuration is still boxy, big windows, with fog lights poking out through the round well at the bumper. front and a separate tailgate.
Where is the X5 made? Spartanburg, South Carolina is in U-S of A, and this X5 is getting older, well … older, for two reasons. First, five cars were like dogs and this X5 came out in 2013 making it a senior citizen; and second, the platform used in this generation has been carried over from the second generation X5.
So it’s twice as old, but still excellent. When will the new one come? It was very close; we will talk at the end of 2018 and it will have the same platform with 7 Series.
However, don’t worry, the current X5’s cabin doesn’t feel outdated – the big screen, the virtual instrument cluster, the familiar BMW-like dashboard and the luxurious seats complement a prestigious cockpit. worthy of an original SUV.
I would say that the Mercedes-Benz GLE feels more luxurious on the inside and boasts a more modern exterior design, but both have a mighty on-road presence, that’s part of the experience.
How realistic is the inner space? 8/10
The X5 is the most realistic SUV in the BMW lineup. It is a clear statement, but I am not just saying. For the past six weeks, I have tested X1, X2, X3, X4 and X5 and X6 before them.
There have been day-care trips, trips to the airport, furniture deliveries, grocery shopping, and nothing in the range of BMW that beats this giant box on wheels for practicality.
For starters, the foldable tailgate means you have a seat or table or awning, and it can be opened in confined spaces.
