The Japanese company has revealed the Toyota Yaris GR-4 with high performance in a preview video
Inspired by a four-wheel race and GR-4 badge, the model is a strong Yaris. However, the unveil was shelved with the event’s cancellation due to devastating wildfires.
The Yaris GR-4 was described as the final test by Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda although the car was not revealed on its launch date. It’s now expected in the first few weeks of 2020, rather than later this year.
The machine will effectively succeed the previous generation’s limited-run Yaris GRMN as the range-topping version of the small hatch. The 4 in GR-4 is believed to stand for four-wheel drive. This will be in line with the Yaris WRC that it has launched in the world top race since 2017. Maybe the new car will lay the foundation for the next generation Yaris WRC
The GR-4 retains the familiar style from the brandy Yaris but has some minor changes. The additional rear wheel arches are wider and an active bodykit to match the car’s high performance concise. The camouflage for the vehicle used by Toyota in most recent models, including the recently revived Supra.
To develop the model structure for our high-performance models, Toyota has applied various levels of branding under the Gazoo Racing theme. These include the hardcore limited-run GRMN versions that are positioned above models that carry the GR badge, which represents an ‘authentic sports model’. The GR Sport trim level provides a more aggressive look while keeping a mechanical package unchanged.
Toyota secured the 2018 World Rally Championship manufacturers’ title with the Yaris WRC, with Ott Tanak claiming this year’s driver’s title.
