Sorry, what? Add an explanation? Rub, old Tiguan is good, but this one is completely new at the end of 2016 is better. Than? After Golf, the Tiguan is Volkswagen’s next largest seller. What about compared to its competitors?
Yes, it’s a mid-size SUV that’s not too expensive, it’s superior to the Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4, very popular in Australia – like very popular. Wait, yes, both are great SUVs, but the Tiguan is different even if its job is to do exactly the same thing.
So what’s special about the Tiguan and is it worth buying a fan – 140TDI? It is also a diesel engine. Okay, here, why.
Is there anything interesting about its design? 9/10
We mentioned the appearance of Tiguan second generation and its new appearance – but to help you save it, what you really need to know is that it’s bigger. Much larger than it has moved out of the small SUV segment into the mid-sized segment, but it’s still not as big as the Touareg on it in Volkswagen’s SUV range.
So if you see a tiger and it looks cute and curved, it is the old one. If you see a tiger that looks big and angular, it is a new one.
The Tiguan is 4506mm long (60mm more than the old car), 1839mm wide (+ 30mm) with a 2681mm wheelbase (+ 76mm), but even if it increases in size, it is still smaller than the CX-5 (4540mm long) ) and RAV4 (4605mm long).
Prestigious exterior combined by a cabin that goes beyond everything else in the segment.
There are six different variants of the Tiguan (seven if you count the cars on entry manually), but you can tell the Highway 140TDI with chrome bars on the grille and around the headlights. Finding 140 TDIs also by dark-colored rear windows and deeper red tail lights, while another is an 18-inch alloy wheel – all other Tiguans have 17s.
It has a prestigious-looking SUV with elegant styling and wide, rigid body. Yup, it’s conservative and somewhat insensitive in its design, but this is a Volkswagen not Alfa Romeo.
Prestige exterior is combined by a cabin that goes beyond everything else in the segment with excellent seating, premium materials and excellent build quality.
Volkswagen’s design beauty, also in a well-built nature for its purpose and that means great practicality.
How realistic is the space inside? 9/10
The wheelbase is longer than that of the Tiguan, meaning more cabin space and those sitting in the back seat now have an extra 3.0cm. That may sound like a lot but that means that even a statistic person taller than 191cm like I can sit behind his driving position with a wide distance of my hand from knee to seat.
Headroom in the back is also great – I was able to create a fist in the space between my noggin and the roof.
Storage space is outstanding. These seats have foldable tray-style trays with cup holders – but you don’t need to buy 140 TDI to get these when they appear outside the entry Tiguan, so the two cup holders in the central armrest, along with two adjustable cup holders up close to the gear lever.
There are giant bottle holders at all doors, cool glove boxes, large storage bins under the central control armrest, the front passenger has a drawer under the seat and a bottom net feet plus an upper storage box. But wait, there are two overhead storage cabinets for tourists front and rear. There was a moment of ‘whoooah’ when these were discovered.
The 140 TDI highway is the only way to get automatic gateways as standard – and it’s the start-up function with a sweep of your foot under the bumper. It has a bit of luxury, life changes.
The rear seats are on a slider and when moving forward, the vertical boot capacity is 615 liters (VDA). That’s 200 liters bigger than the CX-5 luggage space, nearly 30 times the RAV4 and even surpasses the cargo capacity of the Nissan X-Trail. It sounds obvious but remember when the rear seats slide forward the rear legroom drops.
The light is excellent in the entire cabin with two map lights on the dashboard and two on the second row and light in the boot.
Does it represent good value for price? What features does it come with? 9/10
The 140TDI highway is Tiguan King and the market listed price is $ 49,990, making it higher than 18K dollars compared to the trend-following Tiguan entry.
How does the 140TDI highway get other tigers? There is a keyless entry with proximity unlock feature (worth the money for rice); LED headlights (worthwhile); fancy LED design at taillights (meh); The ds (worthwhile); Rear glass absorbs 65 percent light (certainly worthy), 18-inch wheels (worth the price). This class also has VW’s top sound system, and sat navigation, plus voice command functionality (worthwhile); illuminated sills (ooooh, beautiful); LED lights around the interior (aww, more beautiful); auto-start (fully deserved); Comfortable sports seat bucket front (worth it); the driver adjusts the seat power (what about the front passenger?); heated front seats (worthwhile); paddles change (worth it); and leather wrap (worth the price).
Standard has 140TDI shares with two variations below it in the range including chrome roof rails, three zone climate control, automatic parking, front and rear parking sensors, 8.0-inch screen with camera Reversal, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight speakers for audio systems, automatic headlights and wipers, and cool flat bottom steering wheel.
Bluetooth system works well and installs cinch.
Our test vehicle has an optional $ 2000 Driver Support Package, in addition to adding adaptive cruise control, rear traffic alerts and blind spot warnings to the Active Information Screen, screen 12 Excellent 3-inch replacement for speed counter and ‘ye-olde’ dial with a completely virtual setting. Worth two great men.
Our car also has optional metallic Blue Caribbean ($ 700).
If you think that 50,000 dollars is a lot to spend on a mid-size SUV, remember that this is the top Tiguan diesel and the cheaper types below come with a lot of similar equipment. Also, remember that it’s not too expensive compared to rivals – Mazda CX-5 Akera is equivalent to the top specs with all-wheel drive (AWD) system and higher priced diesel engine at $ 50,410.
What are the important statistics for engine and transmission? 9/10
The 140TDI highway has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine – the same diesel engine in the 110TDI version, which is only adjusted to produce 30kW more power at 140kW and 60 Nm more torque at 400Nm.
The transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch and works a lot better than Volkswagen’s DSG from five years ago, so donith has been removed.
All the tigers other than the 110TSI Standard and Trend Line are AWD, VW calls its system 4Motion.
